Art Builds Confidence and Self-Expression in Kids

Inspire Confidence and Skills of Expression

Dr. Kerry Freedman affirmed, “When children are very young, they may start making marks on walls and other places parents don’t appreciate. Early art education helps them learn to make their mark on the world in ways that people will appreciate. They learn that they can actually have an impact on the world through the visual arts” (PBS).

As the Head of Art and Design Education at Northern Illinois University, Dr. Kerry Freedman is known for her support and belief in the importance of art in child development. Creating art allows children to show off their skills to others, which builds their confidence in their own abilities. Furthermore, art for kids gives them an outlet for expressing their emotions and thoughts.
